Devotion
This word gives me goosebumps. This way of being resonates deeply within me. I have come to realize that I am a devotional being. I take that from my grandmother.
This word is often referenced in religious terms, when one follows or worships such teachings. Like my grand-ma, she used to pray every day to God.
And yet, you don’t need to be part of any religious practice to be a devotee of life.
Simply put, devotion means “love, loyalty and enthusiasm for a person, activity, or cause.” Other words associated in being devotional are: supportive, faithful, dependable and affectionate.
Such beautiful qualities, don’t you find?
When I think of leading a devotional life, it comes down to…
~ Who and what I love, care and believe in so deeply.
~ The essentials of my life that I want to offer my loving presence and attention to, so that it can flourish.
~ Returning day after day to what nourishes and gives true meaning in my life.
Notice, there is a yin & yang, a feminine & masculine component to being devotional.
The feminine side is all about the love and care you hold in your heart. The masculine side is the continuous return, the recurrent actions you take to reflect such deep love.
Sharing an invitation here, as I am curious. If you were to list a top three to five things, people, aspects of your life that you want and maybe, are already devoting yourself to, what would they be?
For example, if that can inspire you, for me it comes down to:
~ My self-care, health & healing
~ My precious relationships
~ My Soul Work
~ My thirst to learn & bathe in wisdom
~ My connection to my grandest teacher Mama Earth
Since I made this precious devotional list a few days ago, I noticed how it became a guiding light. So simple and yet, it brings me back to my essentials and filters out what feels less of a priority.
I also now go to bed playing out my day and noticing if I really did show up. Not for perfection but a simple reminder that the grandest love declaration is offering my presence.
On this LOVE portal we are gliding on right now, may we remember that every day is an opportunity to wholeheartedly tend to what matters most to us 🌹
