Tend to Yourself First

It’s the first Summer after a few, that I won’t be joining a retreat as my financial focus has been more on slowly starting my new soulful business and being in a posture of service.

Those precious nature immersions, deeply connective, soul balm weekends are missed and yet there is always a way to create what we are seeking with a little bit of imagination. A few weeks ago, knowing I would have the whole apartment to myself for 5 days, I decided to offer myself a “Home Retreat”.

Dedicated to my well-being, I layed out my intentions, the purpose of these next few days and the essence of my time:
~Spaciousness
~Slowness
~Reflection
~Nourishment
~Decluttering
~Centering
~Integration of the past deeply moving months
~Daily rituals
~Deep authentic moments connecting to Mama Earth and a few chosen sisters.

What a profound nervous system recalibration this was! I intentionally created simple and daily invitations, just like a retreat setting would.

Every early waking morning was greeted by the sun, slowly tending to my own needs ~ first (always been such a challenge): Daily reflective journaling on my outdoor balcony with Mama Cacao, breathing practice, intuitive movement and an inspirational read were on the menu. No cellphone before 11am. Just me connecting with me.

The afternoons were invitations to join a Sister under some heartfelt talks, a spa luxury moment, mermaiding by the pool, receiving the medicine of sound by a dear gifted one and a soothing massage from another.

Decluttering my home was also aligned. Letting go of the old, the nonresonant. I connected to every book, every piece of clothing, taking the time to notice and feel if it matched my present frequency. Energetic this was. It felt so good to release so much stuff that once served. Gifting to others was the natural way, filling me up with such profound joy for others to benefit!

My evenings were left with slow walks connecting with the neighbouring alley cats, singing, drumming, praying, meditating by my altar, thanking another precious day. No cellphone after 8pm and early bedtime to honour my much needed beauty sleep.

Like on all retreats I’ve been on, I have received teachings and wisdom that I try to honour and carry forth. This home retreat reminded me what fills my cup, what makes me lead a vibrant, energized life! It also was an important process of healing a layer around, guilt, which I can feel around prioritizing myself.

The Wild Feminine Way reminds us that to be of service to this world, we must serve ourselves first. Our cup must be served to pour out to others. There is just no other way 🌀

How do you see tending to yourself? What would that look like?

In the spirit of self-care, self-love.
In the spirit of slowing down, relaxing.
In the spirit of soul expression.
In the spirit of releasing, letting go.
In the spirit of simplicity and profoundness.
In the spirit of deep connections.
In the spirit of minimal stimulation.
In the spirit of tending to one’s Self first.
